I am interested in participating in TRU AdventureU Club activity, how do I sign up?
It is easy! For both our free activities and activities that require a participation fee, find the Bookeo App on our website or Facebook page, and click ‘Book Now’ to sign up. Once in the sign-up page, follow the prompts. We require that bookings be made 72 hour in advance to ensure we have enough people signed up to run the activity.
Can I sign up for my friends?
We want to get to know each and every one of you, so the AdventureU Club booking platform is designed to create one booking at a time. We encourage you and your friends to sign up individually for the desired trip or activity.
What kind of activities and trips does the TRU AdventureU Club offer?
The AdventureU club is growing, and each semester the AdventureU Club is on the quest for new activities in new exciting locations. We offer weekday, single day or overnight activities to the TRU student community to create memorable experiences and allow the students to participate in a wide variety of adventure activities. Activities change season to season, so stay connected to see what is new coming up, semester to semester! We are always looking for new ideas too. I am under 19; can I still sign up for TRU AdventureU Club activity or trip?
To sign up for an AdventureU Club related activity our waivers require that participants must be 19 years of age or older. If you are under 19 years of age, a guardian must sign our minor release of liability. Please inform your activity instructor if you are under 19 and require the minor release of liability.
Do I need to bring my own equipment to participate in an AdventureU Club activity?
Yes and No. Thanks to the AdventureU Clubs relationship with Thompson Rivers University’s, Adventure Studies Department and TRU World, many of our activities provide the necessary gear to join our activities, such as tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, lifejackets, canoes, kayaks, paddles, etc. If an activity requires additional equipment, such as our biking activity requires you own a bike and helmet, it will be listed in the Book Now activity ‘What to Bring’ tab.
It is always recommended to come with a sturdy pair of shoes (hiking boots), a full water bottle, a day-pack, and appropriate attire for all of our trips.
Do I need to bring my own food?
Yes and No. Our smaller day activities ask you to bring your own lunch, unless specified otherwise. All overnight activities will include food and we ask that you provide details of any dietary concerns and medical condition such as, food allergies to your instructor prior to the trip.
How much do activities cost?
It depends. With the encouragement of the larger TRU community, the AdventureU Club has access to many resources that allow us to provide activities at great value. Some of our activities are free and some require a participation fee that range from $10 – $30, but exceptions may apply depending on the type and duration of activity. Where do activities take place?
The AdvetureU Club offers a full range of activities take place in many different natural and built environments in and around Kamloops. In the past we have held activities in the backcountry, on trails, on the rivers, in the Tournament Capital Centre and even in the Paramount Theater for our end of year social. You can expect that your time at Thompson Rivers University with the AdventureU club to be in new and exciting environments.
How do I become a TRUSU member of the TRU AdventureU Club?
It’s easy! Once you participate in a TRU AdventureU Club Activity, you are automatically a member of the TRUSU club. To gain the TRUSU member certificate provided annually, TRUSU will send out an email asking the student body to request certificates. Respond to the email and provide “Participant” as your role in the club. To receive your certificate, the AdventureU Club TRUSU Signing Authorities will confirm your membership in the club with TRUSU.
What if I signed up for an activity and am unable to make it or need to cancel?
If you need to cancel, notify the AdventureU Club 1 day (24hrs)* prior to the activity to receive a full refund for the participation fee.
If it is past the 1 day* deadline, the participation fee will not be refunded. We still ask that you notify us that you are unable to attend the activity since we often have wait-lists. Your notification allows us to open the spot to someone else.
Do I need experience in the activity I am interested in participating?
Absolutely not! Our activities are designed and facilitated to include all levels of experience in outdoor activities. Many of our guides are trained as certified instructors in the activities they are hosting. They love sharing their passion with people and will guide you through the skills needed to enjoy the activity. In some cases, we offer small trips that focus on skill development that are a prerequisite for larger more extensive trips such as our signature experiences. If the trip requires a prerequisite, it will be mentioned in the activity description in Book Now.

Do you provide transportation? And where do we meet?
Yes we do! Most of our activities include transportation with Thompson Rivers University Adventure Studies Department or TRU World. In the rare case the club instructors will use their personal vehicles to carpool groups to an activity.
When we meet for an activity, we meet outside the Adventure Studies Department’s Gear Bay outside located near TRU exchange . Don’t know where the Gear Bay is, walk straight from the TRU exchange towards the Walmart, and you will find parking lot XT at the right hand side of the road just before the red light. Look for signs outside or some people who look like they are dressed for an adventure and you will find the Gear Bay.
